ABOUT
Literary criticism is a captivating and curious art form. For a while now, I have been drawn to this not-too-long style of prose, for it appeals to the everyday lover of books + movies, yet also reminds us of our time in an English classroom —— there's something exhilarating about trying to 'figuring out' the meaning and morals behind art.
To me, literary criticism is achieved when good art, thoughtful reflection, and tasteful sentence structure come into each other's company. A successful essay, then, has one eye turned to their subject and the other to their reader. In this manner, the literary critic —— forever humbled by the impossibility of satisfying either party —— plays the eager host, introducing author to audience, and vise vera.
Please enjoy a selection of my writing that I am proud to have pass as your first handshake with Nabokov (let's say). Happy reading.
